FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Center for Cultural Power Launches The CultureStrike Network: A Creative and Political Home for Artists, Culture Bearers, and Movement Builders.

March 2026  — Throughout the past 14 years, many in our community have come to know The Center for Cultural Power through our various campaigns, programs, commissions, cohorts, and awards. What began as an Oakland-based grassroots organization has since emerged as a bi-coastal, multi-state and even international network of artists, culture bearers and movement builders. In 2024 alone, we invested over $4 million dollars into our program services.

Up until now, what has fundamentally connected each of these communities was a commitment to the belief that Culture moves faster than political and economic change. That said, we have yet to bring everyone together across those spaces under one roof. We’re changing that.

We’re formally announcing the launch of The CultureStrike Network — A Creative and Political Home for connection, collaboration, resources, learning, and collective action in this critical moment. This network exists because of years of stewarding relationships and collaboration with all of our communities and partners.

Our Roots

Back in 2011, “CultureStrike” was co-founded by Oakland-based artists Favianna Rodriguez and Jeff Chang and was originally created to support artists as change-makers. We grew into Cultural Power, advancing values-aligned narrative strategies for artists and culture bearers to shift worldviews away from domination and extraction toward collaboration and interdependence.

What We’re Building

The network, rooted in mutuality, reciprocity, and care, will bring us together to build narrative power, take collective action, and be there for one another – so we can support our communities and movements in the difficult moments ahead. Here are some of the network offerings we’ll aim to provide:

Our Vision

Building this national network will take time and intention. While we strive towards building a bigger tent, we encourage our creative and movement partners to sign-up for our monthly newsletter and follow us on our socials to stay tuned for network updates.
