Rooted In Joy
The Center for Cultural Power is excited to announce the launch of Rooted in Joy. This climate campaign aims to highlight joy, cultural memory, and interdependence as crucial elements for climate justice, particularly in a world grappling with climate displacement and environmental injustice.
This campaign is a vibrant counter-narrative to despair, centering BIPOC-led solutions and ancestral wisdom to foster belonging, abundance, and collective resilience. Through commissioned art, powerful storytelling, and art activations, we aim to spark joy-forward mobilization, deepen our collective climate political education, and reframe climate action as cultural memory and care.
Our Vision: Art as a Catalyst for Change
The heart of Rooted in Joy lies in its artistic commissions. We are collaborating with ten core movement partners such as: Asian Pacific Environmental Network (APEN), Black Zocalo Worker Collective, BlackOak Collective, California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA), CEJA Action, Feed Black Futures, Food Access LA, Green Jobs Boards, Movement Generation, North Carolina Environmental Justice Network (NCEJN), PUSH Buffalo, Sustain Our Future Foundation, and The Solutions Project, and eleven artists to create original digital illustrations that are grounded in the work of our partners and the narratives we seek to shift, including Abundance & Thriving, Joy & Resurgence, Liberatory Love & Hope, Solidarity & Interconnectedness, and Stewardship & Collective Care.
